Navy veteran and debut novelist

Patricia “Grandma Pat” Patten is a Navy veteran, debut novelist at 75, and MFA graduate in Creative Writing & Publishing Arts from the University of Baltimore. Her lifelong fascination with stories about strong women who face extraordinary challenges and never give up inspired Between War and Peace. It's a riveting historical novel about Deborah Sampson—the fearless woman who disguised herself as a man to fight in the Revolutionary War and served as a Ranger in an elite special forces unit.

With meticulous research, Pat brings overlooked voices of history to life. She now lives in Florida, where she continues to write, explore new technology, and live by her favorite motto: it’s never too late to follow your bliss.
